Welcome to Swinley Forest Golf Club

Swinley Forest is a private members’ club in Ascot that has charmed, inspired and challenged golfers for over 100 years. Designed by Harry Colt, its layout carves its way through spectacular heathland vistas framed by heather, pine woods, azaleas and rhododendrons. With its combination of 2 par 5s, 11 par 4s and 5 par 3s, Swinley plays deceptively long and its undulating greens deliver a true test of skill to all comers. Visitors and Societies are warmly welcomed throughout the year but only by prior arrangement.

Explore the Course

Carved out of a Royal hunting forest and open heathland, Swinley’s layout remains true to its original Harry Colt design but with subtle enhancements over the years. Today, off the back tees, at 6431 yards long it delivers a true test of the game, but the course is set up to deliver a great experience to golfers of all standards. Click here to sample the holes.

Visitors and Societies

Swinley welcomes a limited number of visitors on weekdays only, strictly via prior arrangement and subject to availability. Societies have the opportunity to play two rounds and enjoy a traditional golfers’ lunch in our upstairs dining room. There is limited availability for individual visitors to play.

Swinley’s History

Swinley’s history is unique. Founded by Lord Derby and his friends in 1909, his passion resulted in a Golf Club recognised as both very special and different from its first day. Ladies were welcomed, handicaps were disregarded, dogs encouraged and there have only ever been two members’ competitions each year.
